Elements Eco Camp is being created with a long view — one that understands land not as a backdrop, but as a living system with history, meaning, and responsibility.
Before anything is built, we begin by listening: to the forest, the water, the light, and the patterns already present on the land. We study its ecology, archaeology, and hydrology. We learn where it is resilient, where it is sensitive, and where care is most needed.
This work informs every decision we make — from how structures are placed, to how water moves across the site, to how people will experience and move through the landscape.
We believe stewardship is not a statement, but a practice.
It means building slowly.
It means building carefully.
It means protecting what makes a place special while inviting others to experience it with respect.
At Elements Eco Camp, we approach this land with care, humility, and a commitment to stewardship, and in that spirit we acknowledge that this territory is of the Anishinabek Nation: The People of the Three Fires known as the Ojibway, Odawa, and Pottawatomie Nations, and further give thanks to the Chippewas of Saugeen and the Chippewas of Nawash, known collectively as the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, as the traditional keepers of this land.
Our approach includes ongoing learning and collaboration with researchers, planners, and environmental professionals. We work with universities and advisors across the province to better understand the land, its past, and its future.
This research is not separate from the guest experience — it is part of it. We hope that those who visit will leave not only rested, but more aware of the natural and cultural systems that shape this place.
This acknowledgement is not a conclusion.
It is a beginning — a reminder that stewardship is ongoing, that learning never ends, and that respect must be expressed through action as much as through words.
We are committed to continuing this work with care, curiosity, and accountability.
We welcome dialogue, learning, and guidance as we continue this journey.
